what breakers or fuses can be applied ?

Schleifenbauer supplies a large number of possibilities for providing PDUs with fuses. In order to make the right choice for a fuse, we advise you to read the White Paper on Fuses, which you can retrieve in the downloads section of this site.

Fuses have the objective of making the electrical system safe, so that no fires can be caused by overloading or injuries occur due to faulty connections. Furthermore, the fuse has the goal of isolating a fault to a certain segment of the system. This prevents the whole electrical system from being interrupted due to a single fault.

There are 5 types of fuses that can be built into Schleifenbauer PDUs.

Automatic fuses (MCB)

The automatic fuse or MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) is a magneto-thermal fuse that is often used in fixed systems. The fuses are available in many different amp values and with different switching characteristics (B, C and D). Three fuses can be placed side by side in the profile. The standard short-circuit resistance is 6kA and can optionally be higher.

The locking pin: this device by Schleifenbauer secures the switch on the fuse against unintended switching off. This is an indispensable safety feature, which ensures that someone working on the box cannot accidentally switch off the power. The safe working of the fuse remains of course guaranteed!

Revolver cartridge holder

This fuse holder for glass fuses is made with DIN-Rail specifications just like the MCB, due to which 3 can also be placed side by side in the Schleifenbauer profile. This SIBA holder with a glass fuse is suitable for very high kA values (short-circuiting power) and the glass fuses are fast enough to be selective in most cases. The revolver holder makes replacing the glass fuse very safe and easy. An indicator lamp on the fuse holder indicates which fuse has become defective. Glass fuses must be replaced if they have become defective due to overloading or short-circuiting.

Thermal breaker

The thermal breaker is an automatic overload fuse. It can thus be re-activated after a fault by pressing the sprung-out pin. The thermal fuse is a cheap solution for situations where no protection against short-circuiting (selectivity) is needed. This fuse can be fitted by us in 10A and 16A versions. If there are sufficient numbers, other values can also be selected.

Glass fuse holder

This miniature glass fuse holder is suitable for fuses up to a maximum of 16A. They are applied when there is little space available, for example, when every C13 outlet must be separately fused. This fuse has also been selected for its high KA value and speed, due to which selectivity is in most cases guaranteed. Moreover, the power uptake is very low, due to which the temperature of the small fuse holder remains low under loading and power consumption is low.

PASCO

The firm Eaton has brought the PASCO cartridge holder on to the market. Just like the MCB and the revolver cartridge holder, this is a system that is based on the DIN rail. Each PASCO uses 2 DIN units and this means that it needs a lot more space than the revolver holder. Those with standard D2 cartridges in the building can opt for this cartridge holder. The slide-out drawer separates both the ZERO and the PHASE when opened.
