Metering is important for determining the energy costs and allocating them to the actual consumers. It is the only way of saving on the costs of the data centre's largest energy consumer: the IT load. The higher the metering density, the clearer the picture. That is why Schleifenbauer PDUs measure energy down to the outlet level. For good control, the PDU must distribute the current over the outlets in an electrically responsible manner and support all types of outlet present in the data centre. The possibility of switching off certain outlets makes remote control a reality.

The investments in the electrical infrastructure of a data centre are huge. This makes it necessary to protect this investment by fitting good fuses and breakers in the PDUs. The correct choice of fuse is a complex matter and depends on the infrastructure. Schleifenbauer therefore offers only customised products, because a 'standard' fuse rarely provides the safety one actually wants.
